Free Comic Book Day shops
Free Comic Book Day is a yearly event, usually held on the first Saturday in May, when participating comic shops give away comics printed for the day. Shops sign up year by year, so check with a shop before you go.
How Free Comic Book Day works
Publishers print special issues just for the day, and shops order them to give away. Shops pay for those copies, so each shop sets its own limit on how many free books a visitor can take and picks which titles it stocks.
Busy shops can have a line before opening, and popular titles run out. Many shops add sales, guest creators or costume contests on the day. Check the shop's social media for its plans.
The date and the list of participating shops are published each year on the Free Comic Book Day website run by the event's organizers. A shop on this page has done it before, based on its reviews or website. That does not mean it is taking part this year.
