Comic shops that host signings
Many comic shops invite writers and artists in for signings, sketch sessions and launch parties. It is a chance to meet the people who make the books and get your copies signed.
How a shop signing works
Signings are often tied to a new book. The shop posts the date on its social media, website or email list and stocks the creator's work for the day. Many signings are free. Well-known creators sometimes charge for signatures past a set number, or for sketches.
Popular events draw lines. Some shops hand out numbered tickets or hold places in line for customers who buy the new book.
A signature on its own isn't verified. If you want a signed book graded with the signature confirmed, a witness from the grading service has to see it signed. Some events arrange that, and the shop will say so in advance.
