Getting a fair offer in Columbus
- Call both shops first. Ask whether they are buying right now, what they want, and when the buyer is in. For a large collection, set a time.
- Sort before you go. Put books in order by title and issue number, and keep older books and keys in their own stack. Bags and boards help, but a clean, sorted box matters more.
- Compare offers on your most valuable books. The Laughing Ogre and Buying Old Comic Books may want different things, so the same box can get different offers.
- Ask for cash and store credit. Cash offers sit below resale value, because the shop has to sell the books again. Many shops offer more in credit.
- Expect little for bulk. Boxes of recent common issues are often bought as one lot for a low price, or not at all.
